HKIS Admissions
Select applicants will be invited to a pre‑entry assessment, which varies by grade level
Invitations are based on applicant priority, the number of applications received, and the anticipated availability of spaces in each grade.
- Primary admissions use the MAP test, an adaptive online multiple-choice test assessing:
- English Language Usage
- Reading Comprehension
- Mathematics
- Secondary admissions use the iDAT test, an online multiple-choice test that assesses:
- English: grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, speaking and writing
- Maths
- Logic Reasoning & Critical Thinking
- Character
- Priority:
- Priority A – Debenture Holders Applicants who hold a valid corporate or family HKIS debenture
- Priority B –
- Children of HKIS Faculty
- Overseas applicants studying outside HK and enrolled in accredited American curriculum schools
- Siblings of currently enrolled HKIS students
- Children of HKIS alumni
- Students returning to HKIS
- Overseas applicants currently enrolled in an international curriculum school outside HK and the Greater Bay Area
- Priority C – Applicants currently attending schools in Hong Kong or the Greater China Area
Lower Primary (Reception 1 to Grade 2)
- In-person (preferred) assessment
- Age: Reception 1 for students who have reached the age of 4 by 31 August of the entry year

Assessment of fine and gross motor skills, developmental readiness, behavior, and expressive and receptive English Language skills
Grades 1 & 2

Upper Primary (Grades 3 to 5)
