Julianna

Director

Badminton School

Graduated from the University of Cambridge with a MA in Mathematics, Julianna has completed Stanford University’s course on Maths Teaching. With years of experience in teaching and admissions consulting, Julianna has helped numerous students gain admission to top boarding schools and universities. Having been through different education systems herself, she is uniquely positioned to understand the needs of her students. Julianna has also been interviewed by various publications for her experience in consulting and teaching.

Ollie

University of Oxford
Eton College

Educated at Eton College, Ollie obtained a first-class degree in Ancient and Modern History from the University of Oxford, where he studied for a postgraduate degree in Creative Writing, meaning that he is in the very rare position of having been accepted to study in three different Oxford departments (Classics, History and Continuing Education). With experience tutoring Common Entrance, school interviews and Oxbridge applications, Ollie knows how to get the most out of his pupils, tailoring his approach for each individual.

Teresa

Yale University
Phillips Academy Andover

Teresa went to Phillips Academy Andover as a one-year senior and graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts in History. While at Yale, she studied in France and Japan on exchange programs and lived in Korea briefly in between jobs. Teresa currently works and resides in Hong Kong. As a feature writer at Ampla, Teresa also helps students with US boarding school and college applications.

Patrick

Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Phillips Academy Andover

Patrick graduated from MIT with a Bachelor in Biology. He went on the Cambridge-MIT Institute Exchange program while at MIT and completed a J.D. course at Boston University School of Law, followed by a LLM. at UCL. Patrick has worked as a lawyer for a few years before becoming an education consultant seven years ago, providing counseling on US university and boarding school admissions.

Jo Jo

University of Oxford
Badminton School

With a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, Jo Jo has since completed her Master of Laws in International Legal Practice and is qualifying as a certified public accountant and barrister in Hong Kong. Jo Jo’s rich knowledge in the legal and finance sectors enables her to enthuse students with her real-world experience. Jo Jo also teaches debating and critical thinking, and runs public speaking courses using VR technology.

Charly

University of Cambridge
Oundle School

Charly received her B.A. in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Chinese Studies. As a professional translator, Charly has particular experience of tutoring English as a second language, both on a one-to-one basis and group basis from ages 4 to 40+. She is skilled in providing personal statement writing guidance, as well as Common Entrance and independent school entrance exam preparation for English, History and Humanities papers.



Kitty

Imperial College
Badminton School

Educated at Badminton School, Kitty obtained a First Class Honours degree in Biomedical Engineering, followed by a MSc degree specialising in Medical Physics, both from Imperial College. Kitty has experience teaching students subjects such as Maths, Sciences, as well as educating young children Programming. As the former Departmental Representative of her degree, she also understands university admissions and is well placed to assist with school and university applications. 

Janet

University of Cambridge
Wycombe Abbey

Janet enjoys teaching humanities subjects as well as Business Studies, Economics, English and Maths. Educated in both Hong Kong and England, she has helped students of all ages with interview and entrance exam preparation, university admissions in addition to IGCSE, A-Level and IB exams. Janet studied Land Economy at the University of Cambridge and her extensive work experience from the education, property and financial sector enables her to work with students of all ages in an engaging manner.

Michael

Peking University

Michael received his B.A. in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Chinese Studies. Having spent his years abroad studying at Peking University and working as an education consultant in China, Michael is experienced in providing professional advice to Chinese families on overseas education. Based in London, Michael can accompany families on school visits and interviews in the UK.

Thomas

University of Oxford
Winchester College

While Thomas was at Winchester College, he was a Goddard Scholar, as well as the Head of House at Morsheads. He then went on to the University of Oxford to study Classics. On top of being a tutor of classical languages, literature and history, Thomas is able to advice students on various aspects of boarding school life and admissions procedures, such as the interviews and assessments.

Julia

University of Cambridge

Julia obtained BA and MSci degrees in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Chemistry, where she was also a Flight Commander on Cambridge University Air Squadron in the RAF. She has worked as a strategy consultant in London and now focuses on strategy work in the TV and Media industry. With her broad range of experiences, she is able to offer interview coaching to Ampla’s students in a wide variety of contexts.

Alex

University of Oxford
Abingdon School

Educated at Abingdon School, Alex graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA and MSci in Natural Sciences, specialising in Experimental and Theoretical Physics. Alex is currently in his third year of a PhD at the University of Oxford, in the Optical Quantum Technologies group of Professor Brian Smith. Having studied at both Cambridge and Oxford, Alex is able to advise students on the Oxbridge applications based on personal experience.

Edwin

University of Cambridge
Harrow School

Edwin attended Harrow School on a music scholarship, and was made a member of the Guild while studying there – for excellent contribution to Harrow’s artistic enterprise. He carried on to read music at the University of Cambridge on an organ scholarship. After obtaining his MPhil in music, Edwin worked as a researcher at Cambridge’s Judge Business School. He is now pursuing a PhD at Cass Business School on a full scholarship, and explores the innovation process in professional service firms.

Maira

University of Aberdeen

Maira graduated with a first class honours degree in Psychology from the University of Aberdeen. Before embarking on a career in teaching, she won a research internship scholarship and gained extensive experience in various psychology research labs. As a native Italian speaker, she is also fluent in English, French and Spanish, and has years of tutoring experience. She specialises in English Language and Literature, and is adept at preparing students for Common Entrance and (I)GCSE examinations.
